Analysis reveals correlation between profitability with the use of natural additives and environmental benefits

In order for the intestine to perform well, it is necessary to balance its intestinal microbiota. Yes, a microbiome formed mostly by non-pathogenic microorganisms. It is worth remembering that in order to have an ideal microbiome, the triad Integrity of Intestinal Epithelial Cells, the Microbiota and the Intestinal Associated Lymphoid Tissue (GALT) has to be in a dynamic and mutual interaction. Full Intestinal Integrity depends on the balance between this triad.

Only with the balance of this triad will the animal's immune system fulfill its full potential. Immunomodulation (proper and balanced activation of the immune system) depends on the integrity of intestinal cells and the balance between beneficial bacteria and intestinal pathogens.

The modulation of the intestinal microbiota and the Immunomodulation are fundamental allies to the lesser use of growth-promoting antibiotics.

According to research by Prof. Dr. José Roberto Sartori (2018), from Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Botucatu (SP), comparing zootechnical results of broiler chickens that consumed APCs against birds that consumed MOS, Betaglucans, FOS and GOS, Treatment 2, to 41 days of age, they weighed 16.65 grams more, consumed 21.7 grams less feed and died 0.40% less. Still Prof. Dr. Dirlei Antonio Berto from the Pig Farming Sector of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science – Unesp, Botucatu (SP), concluded in 2018 that when purchasing zootechnical results from pigs from 0 to 28 days after weaning, animals that consumed MOS, Betaglucans, FOS and GOS compared to those who consumed APC obtained 56 grams of weight more and consumed 112 grams of less feed.

These studies support that the use of microbiota modulators bring green efficiency to the production process, essentially reflected in 4 points: less use of feed – with better absorption of nutrients –; lower availability and consumption of water; less use of growth-promoting antibiotics – with natural reinforcement of the immune system –; and even greater conversion of produced meat.

"It is important to note that the reflection of the results of the use of modulators has two scopes: the first is to be environmentally responsible, relevant not only from the point of view of principles, but essential for a clean production that seemed to be a trend for the future, but which is already present. Technical director Carlos Ronchi also points out that this clean production is not only a concern for importing markets, but also for responsible companies operating in the local market”. The second and fundamental point: with correct tools and adequate strategies, the use of natural additives for animal nutrition and health provides greater meat production with less food consumption, generating greater efficiency and profitability for the activity. “Fundamental for a horizon of tight margins in the production of animal protein”, he concludes.
