With the recognition, the company hopes to increase revenue by entering the segment

THE YesSinergy®, a company that develops biotechnological solutions for effective, safe and sustainable animal nutrition, announces another important achievement: Halal certification. The recognition is of great importance, as it will enable the expansion of Yess customer base in the area of animal food and supplementation, which will now include the Islamic market.

Halal is the term used in Islamic culture to define what is pure, lawful. To meet this standard, Yes had to work on its Quality Management System and the production process, in order to meet the quality and religious requirements of this market.

“We review procedures, change routines and work synergistically with our suppliers in order to obtain guarantees that we comply with Halal principles”. explains Manuel Marteli, Quality Coordinator at Yesssinergy.

Yes developed a multidisciplinary Committee to address issues involving Halal assumptions. Committee participants received training for training Halal internal auditors. The training was provided by Cdial Halal who also conducted the certification audit.

“The training was important for us to get to know the culture, religion and the management system applicable to Halal. Employees are now part of the internal auditors team and will annually carry out internal audits in the departments considering Halal premises”.

Marteli reminds that the products used in Halal food cannot include Haram products (not pure) according to Islamic principles. Porcine derivatives and products containing alcohol outside accepted parameters cannot be produced and stored in Halal product environments.

“We don't need to make changes to the formulations of Yes products to meet Halal requirements. The certification comes as an opportunity to serve a market that grows in considerable volumes”, he adds.

About the Halal system

In Portuguese, the term Halal means what is lawful and represents what is allowed for Muslims not only in terms of food but also in their habits. For a company to be certified, it needs to respect good manufacturing practices in its processes, in addition to having transparency in its information and correct and fair commercial conduct in its negotiations.

According to the data of the Global Islamic Economic Summit, (GIES) the halal food and beverage market moved, in 2018, around US$ 6.4 trillion and, according to the Brazilian Meat Exporting Industry Association (Abiec), in 2017, Brazilian exports to the Arab countries totaled just over 405 thousand tons, an increase of 6,581TP1Q compared to 2016. In terms of sales, sales grew by 16,131TP1Q.
