With the recognition, the company expects to increase revenues by entering the segment

YesSinergy, a company that develops biotechnological solutions for effective, safe and sustainable animal nutrition, announces another important achievement: the Halal certification. The recognition is of great importance, as it will enable the expansion of Yes's customer portfolio in the area of animal nutrition and supplementation, which will now include the Islamic market.

Halal is the term used in the Islamic culture to define what is pure, lawful. To meet this standard, Yes had to work on its Quality Management System and production process, in order to meet the quality and religious requirements of this market.

“We reviewed procedures, changed the routine and worked in synergy with our suppliers in order to obtain guarantees of compliance with Halal principles”, explains Manuel Marteli, Quality Çorganizer tot YesSinergy.

Yes developed a multidisciplinary committee to address issues involving the premises Halal. The participants of the committee received training of internal auditors Halal. The training was given by Halal Cdial, which also conducted the certification audit.

“The training was important for us to know the culture, religion and the management system applicable to Halal. The employees now integrate the team of internal auditors and annually they will make internal audits in the departments considering the Halal premises”.

Marteli reminds us that the products used in Halal food cannot include Haram (not pure) products according to the Islamic principles. Pork derivatives and products that contain alcohol outside the accepted parameters cannot be produced and stored in Halal products environments.

“We don't need to make changes in the formulations of Yes products to meet Halal requirements. The certification comes as an opportunity to meet a market that grows in considerable volumes”, he adds.

About the Halal System

In Portuguese, the term Halal means what is lawful and represents what is allowed for Muslims, not only in food but also in their habits. For a company to be certified, it needs to respect the good manufacturing practices in its processes, in addition to having transparency in its information and correct and fair commercial conduct in its negotiations.

According to data from the Global Islamic Economic Summit, (GIES) the halal food and beverage market moved, in 2018, about US$ 6.4 trillion and, according to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporting Industries (Abiec), in 2017, Brazilian exports to Arab countries totaled just over 405 thousand tons, an increase of 6,58% compared to 2016. In revenue, sales grew 16,13%.
