Transition phase is essential for good results in milk production
Healthy lactation ensures that cows return to the production cycle earlier and with good zootechnical indices
Period is complicated, it requires an intrinsic and intense handling with the animals
The transition period is critical in milk production. We are aware of the complications that can occur in dairy production on the farm when we do not work properly.
What is the transition period?
This transition period is from 30 days or 21 days for the pre-calving cow to 60 or 90 days post-calving for that cow. It's a period between 90 days and 100 days that I have to be more careful with the cow.
Let's remember that, in the pre-partum period of this animal, it has all its hormonal bias being worked on to perform the birth. And, in the same way, the calf, in the final third of gestation, occupies the largest space inside the cow.
Consequently, the rumen of this animal is reduced by ⅓ of its original size. Only then can we get an idea of the difficulty of this cow's physical capacity to ingest dry matter, of how she can be nourished with this little space.
When the cow is due to give birth, this calf leaves and this space is occupied again by the rumen, returning to its normal size. The cow has to practically double its dry matter intake in order for it to reach the recommended production levels, which are expected from the zootechnical indexes of this animal.
This is a very complicated period, it requires a very intrinsic and very intense handling of these animals.
Yes helps milk production
Yes comes to help you at this point, bringing various biotechnologies and additives to help in this stage of the animal. We know that it is important to maintain a ruminal balance at this stage, in the pre-partum and in the immediate postpartum period.
It is also necessary to improve the absorption of nutrients, especially in the pre-partum period; understand that this cow will increase its consumption and needs to continue absorbing nutrients in an adequate way, in a maximum way, thinking about its lactation peak. And to understand that the animal's organism ends up demanding a lot, and I have to have a bioavailability of minerals.
That's why we started with this line of organic minerals from Yes, to help in this moment. This way, the cow will be able to absorb more minerals and be able to have an immunity to pass to the calf and to avoid postpartum problems, such as metritis, with metabolic ketosis.
So, whatever we manage to prevent from happening to this cow during this period, we managed to have a healthy lactation, make this cow get pregnant earlier and continue the milk production cycle in an adequate manner, with good zootechnical items.
